New Baby Elephant was Born at Mason Elephant Park

A healthy new baby male elephant was born at 6:10 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2019 at Mason Elephant Park & Lodge.  Newly named ARJUNA (who is the third of Pandawa brothers and known to be the most handsome).

At birth he was 121 kilograms and within 30 minutes stood and within 1.5 hours walked. 4 hours later, he took his first breast milk and is quite big for a baby elephant Sumatran.

He is the youngest member, predicted in its natural habitat to extinct in 2030, of a very critically endangered species.

Fatimah is his mom, who was saved at the age of five. She is now 30 years old and since her arrival this is her second child born here in The Mason Elephant Park. Her first child, 10 years ago, is called Jegeg and with her mom still in the park.

This birth at Taro, as part of the effective natural breeding program began 10 years earlier, is the 5th with 2 more anticipated in the next 6 to 8 months.

Sumatra is the last fortress of this rare Asian elephant sub-species that literally runs out of time with its indigenous jungle home being destroyed.

Nigel and Yanie are now owners of Mason Adventures with their two sons Jian and Shan, celebrating 30 years of operation this year that began when they pioneered White Water Rafting in Bali in 1989 that they are still operating today along with many other Adventures Activities.

More recently the Mason Chocolate Factory and Restaurant near Ubud has seen the company expand into food manufacturing.

The Mason range of adventure activities and gourmet destinations is a major brand name on the island of Bali with latest visitors including Kardashians, Alicia Keys and Richard Branson.

Guests can see the new baby in the viewing area every day between 9 am and 6 pm at the Mason Elephant Park & Lodge.
